MISSOURI, USA — Anglers are expected to flock to one of Missouri's trout parks as the catch-and-keep season opens back up.
The season kicks off March 1 at 6:30 a.m., according to Missouri State Parks. Anglers can catch up to four trout a day at Roaring River State Park near Cassville, Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon or Montauk State Park near Salem after they purchase a fishing permit and daily trout tag. The season runs through Oct. 31, after which the catch-and-release season will begin.
A resident fishing permit costs $13 for the year and a daily fishing permit costs $8. Adults can purchase a daily trout stage for $4 while young anglers under the age of 15 can purchase one for $3.
"State trout park campgrounds, lodging units and restaurants are expected to be busy," a state parks representative told 5 On Your Side. "Anglers are encouraged to purchase their fishing permits ahead of time from any of the numerous vendors around the state, online … or through Missouri Department of Conservation’s free mobile apps, MO Hunting and MO Fishing."
