MAITLAND, Mo. — Meet the North American River Otter, these tiny mammals can be found all over Missouri and the continent.
The Missouri Department of Conservation Tuesday shared video of a family of otters gathering along the shore of a river at Nodaway Valley Conservation Area, which is north of St. Joseph.
But, there is a reason videos like this are fascinating to see.
These animals are nocturnal, but they have been coming out during the day to feast due to the recent flooding.
They eat small fish and, as floodwaters recede, these fish are easy prey.
