Ryan O'Reilly selected to 2019 NHL All-Star Game

The Blues forward has been the brightest star in an otherwise dismal season
St. Louis Blues center Ryan O'Reilly (90)

The Blues might sit dead last in the Western Conference as of Wednesday, but you can't fault Ryan O'Reilly.

The offseason addition from Buffalo has been the brightest star in an otherwise dismal season for the Blues, and now he'll get his chance to shine on the All-Star stage.

O'Reilly has been selected to represent the Blues at the 2019 All-Star Game in San Jose later in January.

The forward leads St. Louis in goals, assists, points and plus/minus. He's averaging nearly a point a game, with 35 through the first 37 contests for the Blues.

He's also third in the league in face-offs won, after setting the NHL record for most face-offs won last season as a Sabre.

The NHL All-Star Game will be a 3-on-3 tournament between the different divisions.

O'Reilly will team with Chicago's Patrick Kane, Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler, Dallas' Miro Heiskanen, Nashville's Pekka Rinne and Roman Josi and Minnesota's Devan Dubnyk on the Central Division All-Star team.

This will be O'Reilly's second all-star appearance. He was an all-star with Buffalo in 2016.
