Saint Louis FC wins 2nd game in a row against an MLS team

The local soccer team beats FC Cincinnati on Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals

ST. LOUIS — Saint Louis FC defeated FC Cincinnati 1-0 at World Wide Technology Soccer Park on Tuesday, June 19 to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup.

The goal was scored by the team captain Sam Fink with just minutes left in the game. This is the first time in club history the team has beaten an MLS opponent for the second time and to advance to the quarterfinals.

In case you missed it, Saint Louis FC shared the goal on their Twitter account. 

Saint Louis will take on the MLS’ Atlanta United in a quarterfinal match on July 10 at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Atlanta United defeated the Columbus Crew 3-2 on Tuesday.

“I think it was a deserved win, honestly,” said STLFC Head Coach Anthony Pulis. 

“Overall, the guys were outstanding tonight and they deserve it. They are a fantastic group to work with, so to see the joy on their faces and delight for the fans and everyone for the club, it was another memorable night and I hope everyone enjoys it because they deserve it.”
