SLU's Hasahn French named A-10 player of the week

The Billikens' big man is continuing to feast this season. This week, the rest of the conference took note.

ST. LOUIS — Hasahn French has been on a mission for St. Louis University this season.

So far, the SLU junior is one of just two players in the NCAA averaging 10+ points per game, 10+ rebounds per game and 3+ blocks per game.

This week, French was on another level, and the Atlantic 10 rewarded him, by naming him their player of the week.

In the Billikens' wins over High Point and Belmont this past week, French had a combined 30 points, 33 rebounds and nine blocked shots.

He was especially dominant against Belmont, scoring 21 points, collecting 24 rebounds, blocking seven shots and notching four assists.

French's 24 rebounds in the game tied the A-10 Conference single game record, was the third-highest in SLU history and set a Chaifetz Arena record. His seven blocks were also second most in a single game in SLU history.

French is the first Billiken to register a 20 points, 20 rebound game since Anthony Bonner went for 45 and 20 in 1990.

The junior forward also passed Ian Vouyoukas' all-time SLU career record for blocks this week, with 135.

SLU will be back on the court Wednesday when they go on the road to face Boston College.
