ST. LOUIS — In his first season in Major League Soccer, St. Louis CITY SC goalkeeper Roman Bürki took home the league's award as the best at his position.
Bürki took home the Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award after posting eight shutouts and finishing second in saves. Bürki finished with 67% of the total vote, more than 60% higher than any other keeper.

Bürki was the backbone of a record-setting season for CITY SC. His 17 wins were the most by a goalkeeper in their first MLS season and helped CITY capture the top spot in the Western Conference.
The award was voted on by MLS club technical staff, media, and current MLS players.
Previous winners of the award include Team USA legend Tim Howard and current national team goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Despite their first-round exit from the playoffs, CITY has a chance for more hardware later this month.
Head Coach Bradley Carnell was named one of three finalists for the Sigi Schmid MLS Coach of the Year. He led St. Louis to a 17-12-5 record, 56 points and first place in the Western Conference during their inaugural season.
The 17 wins by St. Louis were the most by an expansion team and the Western Conference regular-season title was the first time an expansion team finished atop their conference, a press release said.
FC Cincinnati’s Pat Noonan and Columbus’ Wilfried Nancy were also named finalists.
The winner will be announced on Nov. 21.
