ST. LOUIS — The Concacaf Champions Cup Round One is coming to St. Louis and CITY SC is looking to make history once again.
St. Louis CITY SC will play in the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup Tuesday night at CityPark ahead of its home opener for its second MLS season.
CITY SC clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference last season, earning them a berth in the Champions Cup.
Here's what you need to know ahead of the tournament:
What is it?
The Concacaf Champions Cup is an annual competition that features clubs from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
The tournament uses a knockout format and will feature 27 teams that qualified through national league competitions.
The five-round knockout phase began on Feb. 6 and will end with the final on June 2. It will be played simultaneously with the Major League Soccer regular-season.
What will the winner receive?
The winning team will receive more than $5 million in financial distributions and prize money.
The winner will also qualify for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as one of the four representatives from the region. The team will join the 2021 winners Monterrey, 2022 winners Seattle Sounders FC and 2023 winners Leon.
How did St. Louis CITY SC qualify?
CITY SC became the first MLS team to clinch the No. 1 seed in its conference during its inaugural season. The title earned the team a berth in its first-ever Concacaf Champions Cup.
What teams qualified?
Twenty-seven teams will participate in the Concacaf Champions Cup with 22 of them in Round One. Teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean qualified for the tournament.

Who is St. Louis playing?
St. Louis CITY SC drew the Houston Dynamo in Round One and will play a home-and-home series.
CITY SC will host Dynamo on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at CityPark. St. Louis will then travel to Houston for the second match on Feb. 27 at Shell Energy Stadium.
St. Louis went unbeaten against Houston in the 2023 MLS regular season. CITY SC beat the Dynamo 3-0 at CityPark and then drew 1-1 at Shell Energy Stadium.
When will the tournament take place?
This year's competition will begin before the start of the 2024 MLS season and span four months.
Round One: February 6-8 (Week 1), February 13-15 (Week 2), February 20-22 (Week 3), and February 27-29 (Week 4)
Round of 16: March 5-7 (First Legs) and March 12-14 (Second Legs)
Quarterfinals: April 2-4 (First Legs) and 9-11 (Second Legs)
Semifinals: April 23-25 (First Legs) and April 30 - May 2 (Second Legs)
Final: June 2
