The St. Louis Aquarium wants your Mardi Gras beads

You can take beads to the St. Louis Aquarium now through Feb. 26 to be recycled.

ST. LOUIS — Now that the Mardi Gras festivities have ended, what are you going to do with the beads you’ve collected?

If you don’t plan on keeping them, you can easily recycle beads by taking them to the St. Louis Aquarium now through Feb. 26 to be recycled.

The aquarium is making an effort to help recycle beads due to plastic material ending up in waterways when it isn’t recycled properly, according to a press release.

Anyone who brings beads to the aquarium for recycling will also be entered into a contest to be eligible to win four annual passes to the aquarium. The winner will be selected on Feb. 27.

The St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station is located at 201 S 18th Street and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Saturday.
