ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Police closed all northbound northbound lanes of Missouri Highway 109 near Interstate 44 in Eureka to investigate a deadly crash in the area Monday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 5:30 Monday morning. A Ford Focus was making a left turn from southbound Highway 109 to eastbound I-44 and failed to yield to a Ford F350, crashing into the side of the truck before traveling off the right side of the roadway and striking a rock bluff.
The truck overturned off the roadway, coming to a rest on its roof, according to MSHP.
The driver of the Ford Focus, 34-year-old Sarah Webb of Eureka, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to MSHP. The truck driver, a 42-year-old man from House Springs, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The roadway and the ramp from 109 to eastbound I-44 were closed for hours due to the crash.
At about 8:15 a.m., MoDOT announced that the crash had been cleared and the roadways reopened.
