ST. LOUIS — A man was killed Wednesday morning after being struck on Interstate 70 in St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the deadly crash happened at about 6 a.m. Wednesday on westbound I-70 near Branch Street. All westbound lanes were closed as Accident Reconstruction investigated the scene.
According to a preliminary investigation, 65-year-old Joe Polk was walking westbound on I-70 and then crossed the westbound lanes toward the express lanes. He was struck by a Dodge Caravan; the impact threw him into another lane, where he was then run over by two more vehicles.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Missouri Department of Transportation said the crash was cleared and all lanes were reopened at about 8:30 a.m.
