EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash shortly after noon on southbound Interstate 55 in East St. Louis.
Illinois State Police said troopers responded to the scene of the crash at around 12:15 p.m., where they found the crash involved a motorcycle and truck-tractor semi-trailer, ISP said. The motorcycle driver was declared dead at the scene and the southbound lanes were closed as officers investigated.
Traffic maps indicated the closure caused traffic backups on the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge, the Martin Luther King Bridge, and the Poplar Street Bridge.
Traffic was cleared as of 4:40 p.m.
