ST. LOUIS — Saturday, you could find yourself in a big slowdown if you're coming into the city for one of the events happening.
All lanes of eastbound Interstate 44 near the Gateway Arch will be closed on Saturday. It's difficult to know exactly how this will shake down, but it could impact your plans, especially if you use an alternative route.
Saturday, MoDOT crews will close all lanes of eastbound I-44 near the Gateway Arch, between the Poplar Street Bridge and Walnut Street, to take care of some maintenance work. The section of interstate will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
How can you get around this? Drivers can take the Park exit, turn left onto Broadway and follow the signs for eastbound I-44 and westbound I-70 to get back onto the interstate.
The Blues aren't in town that day, but we do have the Stan Musial Awards honoring Bob Costas at Stifel downtown (Al Roker will be there, too). Also, Winterfest is opening at Kiener Plaza, so drivers might be affected.
So let's hope for decent weather to allow this work to get completed and in the rearview mirror.
