ST. LOUIS — Cardinals opening day is the only "Holliday” where ramps, side roads and even highways in St. Louis can turn into unofficial parking lots due to all of the activity downtown.
Most fans have accepted the probability of some delays, but there’s always that chance of the impatient driver in a huge SUV rushing down the shoulder trying to get there for the beginning of the rally. In those situations, just be aware of your surroundings. Make sure to leave early for the game and stay light-hearted (and maybe snap some pictures).
There are also a few closures downtown due to bridge work. Keep in mind you might encounter some of these closures on the way to the game and when leaving the game to come home, as well:
- Near the Brewery, the ramps from Arsenal to Interstate 55 South and the ramp from Truman Parkway to I-55 South.
- Just north of the Stan Musial Bridge on Broadway, there's lots of construction along Interstate 70 coming from north St. Louis County into the city. Some of this has been closed since the beginning of last season.
