ST. LOUIS COUNTY -- MoDOT will temporarily close a section of I-270 in both directions Saturday beginning at 11 p.m.
The section between New Florissant Road and Washington/Elizabeth will be closed until 7 a.m. Sunday. Crews will be working to remove a pedestrian bridge located just east of New Florissant Road.
Eastbound drivers will detour at New Florissant Road and use Dunn Road and Washington/Elizabeth to return to the highway. Westbound drivers will detour at Washington/Elizabeth and use Dunn Road to return to the highway. Signage and detours will be marked.
The pedestrian bridge was installed with the original interstate construction during the 1960's and exclusively served the adjacent McCluer High School. The structure is in poor condition and has been closed for several years. It will not be replaced.
All work is weather permitted.
