LAKE ST LOUIS, Mo. — A man was hit and killed while trying to cross I-70 early Monday morning.
It happened just before Lake St. Louis Blvd. at 5:15 a.m.
The man had just hopped over the median wall when he was hit by a car driving in the eastbound lanes, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. The driver stopped and stayed at the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol identified him as 35-year-old Leonard J. Briley of Troy, Missouri.

The crash shut down the eastbound I-70 lanes and caused a traffic backup that was miles long for several hours.
