ST. LOUIS — A trooper suffered minor injuries after his patrol car was struck on an interstate ramp Saturday morning.

Cpl. Dallas Thompson, with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C, confirmed a trooper was struck from behind while stopped in his patrol car on the Interstate 70 westbound ramp onto I-270.

His injuries were minor. He was checked out at the scene by emergency crews but didn't need to go to the hospital.

The car that rear-ended him stayed at the scene, according to officials.

MoDOT headed to the scene with salt and a plow, but Thompson doesn't believe the accident was weather-related.

"We requested MoDOT for traffic control. They are salting the ramps but don't sound like road condition caused the crash," he said.

It's unclear why the trooper was stopped on the ramp.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
