ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — "The entrance ramps from Big Bend Road to I-44 in Crestwood are an issue. The overpass that was rebuilt a couple of years ago is beautiful, but the signage for both westbound and eastbound I-44 is terrible," Today in St. Louis viewer Steve Long said.
To help give you an idea of the location, it's in Crestwood right by the Sam's Club and Culver's.
"A few weeks ago, (Paul Cook) did an episode where (he) spoke about traffic safety in St Louis," Steve went on to say. "Not sure if you can pass this issue on or provide me with the contact information so it can be addressed. The entrance ramps from Big Bend Road to I-44 sit off to the right and are small. I cross this overpass daily and frequently I see drivers (many with out-of-state plates) trying to maneuver while on the overpass to the correct lane in order to access I-44. Yesterday during the rain downpour, I saw four on southbound Big Bend Road trying to access I-44 East, two were in the far-right lane. This causes traffic congestion and problems for the other drivers on the overpass."
5 On Your Side brought the issue to the Missouri Department of Transportation for Steve.
"We passed the concern about the signage at the Big Bend crossing in Webster to our traffic team to investigate and see what may be able to be done," MoDOT said. "We welcome customers to contact us directly about concerns or issues on the roadway. They can reach a live person around the clock by calling 1-888-ASK-MODOT."
Viewers have also complained about drivers at I-44 and Laclede Station Road in Shrewsbury using the emergency lanes as an impromptu overflow lane, which could cause big problems if there was an emergency.
MoDOT said that's a law enforcement matter, and it has alerted them.
5 On Your Side will keep an eye on both of these issues and update you about anything new. Be aware it's going to be a busy summer for road construction again.
