CLAYTON, Mo. -- Southbound Hanley Road is down to one lane in Clayton after a water main ruptured Thursday afternoon.
The break happened between Wydown and Walinca. Normally, that stretch of the road has two travel lanes and a left turn lane open.
The St. Louis County Department of Transportation says that stretch of road is one of the county's busiest roads with approximately 33,000 drivers using it on a typical weekday.
Missouri American Water crews are working to fix the break, but the road isn't expected to fully reopen until after Friday's morning rush hour.
