ILLINOIS, USA — A car was involved in a head-on crash after going the wrong way down an interstate early Sunday morning in Illinois.
Illinois State Police said a little after 5:30 a.m, troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55/70 at Exchange Avenue. According to a traffic report, a car, driven by a 28-year-old woman, was heading northbound although traffic, including a tractor-trailer, was traveling southbound. That caused a head-on collision between the car and semi.
The driver of the car suffered life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver, 57, was taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK. He had a passenger in the truck with him, but the passenger was not injured.
All southbound lanes were closed for approximately 5 hours during the crash investigation.
