St. Louis County Library program lets you check out e-books while traveling, no library card required

The Read While You Wait program is designed to be a pop-up library while traveling.

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. — If you've ever gone to the airport and forgot to pack a book, there is a new service that could make your next vacation more interesting.

The St. Louis County Library is launching a new service that will give people immediate access to thousands of e-books and audiobooks by scanning a QR code. And the coolest part? You don't even need a library card. No more waiting weeks for the more popular books, either.

The ePop Up Library comes together in partnership with several agencies across the county -- from government offices, select Schnucks stores, some Metro Transit stations, St. Louis Lambert International Airport and throughout the Bi-State.

Users will be able to scan a QR code and check out a book for a week.

The official announcement and details will come later Thursday.
