ST. LOUIS — Hot weather and thunderstorms are forecast for the start of the week.
Temperatures Monday will reach the lower 90s, with a heat index near 100 degrees under partly cloudy skies. A heat advisory has been issued for parts of metro St. Louis from 1 to 8pm.
There is a slight chance for an afternoon thunderstorm. However, widespread rain is not forecast Monday.
On Tuesday, temperatures will again reach the 90s but humidity will increase. There is also a greater chance for thunderstorms. Some storms may produce damaging winds and large hail.
The best chance for rain will come in the morning and midday on Tuesday. Additionally, heat index temperatures may reach 110 degrees.
A cold front moves toward the bi-state on Wednesday. This will bring more thunderstorms to the region, especially Wednesday afternoon through Thursday. Temperatures will begin to cool by Thursday, back into the lower and middle 80s.
