Power lines downed near I-55 at Lindbergh Boulevard, buildings damaged in Jefferson County

There were no reported accidents or injuries at this time.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Downed powerlines restricted Interstate 55 and South Lindbergh and other areas of St. Louis County during widespread severe storms Thursday evening.

One power pole completely toppled on the shoulder of I-55, in an area of the highway that was already restricted due to construction.

There were a couple of light poles that were bent and came down.

There were no reported accidents or injuries at this time.

As of around 6 p.m., Ameren Missouri reported that there are more than 12,000 customers without power. There are more than 400 customers without power in Illinois.

Crews with 5 On Your Side in Jefferson County saw more downed powerlines near Brookdale Farms off of Twin Rivers Road in Eureka, Missouri.

The fire chief of the Eureka Fire Department said there was a confirmed tornado that touched in the area, causing high wind speeds.

Power lines were downed throughout the area as drones checked for additional damage. There have been two building structures, including the Brookdale Farm building and another nearby event venue, damaged as a result of the storm. No reports of damage to homes or other businesses have been reported in the area at this time.

Just off Twin Rivers, the road was blocked off due to downed lines. A little closer to the east in Eureka as well as the High Ridge area were also impacted by downed light poles.

The department advised the public to avoid the area because of live powerlines that have not been removed from the roadway.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is made available.
