Finally(!)some rain arrives

We have been really struggling for rain over the last few days, but

We've been really struggling to find rain this month, and over the last 2 and a half months, to be honest. This is the 6th driest start to the month on record. We have found ways to dodge every opportunity that comes our way. It finally seems that we are going to get some steady, soaking rain.

I am optimistic this dry trend finally ends overnight. This series of fronts continues to edge eastward. Rain will fill in overnight, and that should bring us some waves of locally heavy rainfall.

This first wave of rain should arrive sometime after 2 A.M. Sunday. A lot of it will be north of I-70, but there will still be some areas of rain to the south as well.

More of this rain spreads south, covering this very dry area with some locally heavy rainfall. Because rainfall rates will be on the higher side, there will be a few spots that have already gotten over 1" during this time!

As the morning light shines, the rain will start to fade as it weakens and moves to the east. The rest of the day should be cloudy, with a few showers around, but most of it is dry!

Monday morning may start off dry for a lot of us, but some heavier rain continues as this entire system pushes through. Once again, the potential for more heavier pockets of rain is expected, especially in areas south and east of the immediate metro.

Things are finally trending up for the likelihood for many of us to see over an inch of rain by Monday's end! This is very good news for cutting into the drought. While not all of us may see that, there are some possibilities for locally higher amounts for others as well. A few spots may get over 2" of beneficial rain before things get clearer and drier by Tuesday afternoon.
