EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — St. Clair County homeowners and renters affected by July's historic flooding have until Thursday to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster assistance.
As the Thursday application deadline passes, the disaster recovery center at the Clyde Jordan Senior Citizen Center, at 6755 State St. in East St. Louis, will also shut down permanently.
Residents will have until 6 p.m. Thursday to speak with the FEMA and U.S. Small Business Administration specialists at the disaster recovery center about available resources and get help applying for FEMA assistance.
FEMA applications can also be filed online, via the FEMA mobile app or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
To apply for assistance, homeowners and renters will need to provide the following information, according to Illinois FEMA:
- Phone number
- Address at time of flooding
- Current address
- Social Security Number of one household member
- A basic list of damage and losses due to flooding
- Bank information if you choose FEMA money to be awarded via direct deposit
- Insurance information
The deadline for Missouri residents to apply for flooding assistance from FEMA was Nov. 7.
