ST. LOUIS — A Weather Impact Alert is in place into the first part of Tuesday. 2" to 4" of additional rainfall is possible leaving some areas with upwards of 5" to 8" by Tuesday morning. We have already had over 5 inches of rain in many locations. A Flood Watch is in place for most of the area through noon.
Saturated ground and swollen creeks and streams will be an issue by daybreak. As the heavy, steady rain continues...we see the potential for more localized and flash flooding throughout the morning. The morning commute will be slow and full of water. Give yourself a lot of extra time to be where you need to be Tuesday. Those who are outside standing in line to vote should be prepared for heavy rain to start the day, with rain gradually tapering through the early afternoon.
Our severe weather threat has come to a close, as well. Our main focus will be flooded roadways. Turn around, don't drown. As we finally see the rain taper off slowly, things will get better over the coming days. We can expect a few days of dry weather before our next chance for rain heading into the weekend. There is no significant colder weather expected to head our way over the next 7 days.
