ST. LOUIS — Tornado warnings have expired for several counties in Illinois Monday evening, while a Severe Thunderstorm Watch continues into the early morning.
The brief tornado warning affected Bond, Madison, Marion and Fayette counties in Illinois. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remained in effect until 9:45 p.m. for northwestern Marion County.
The tornadoes were only radar-indicated so far, with no damage reported as of 9:30 p.m.
The tornado threat has diminished, but large hail and damaging winds remained likely in Marion County, the National Weather Service said.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 3 a.m. for south central Illinois.
A tornado warning means a tornado has been spotted or indicated by the radar. Stay in your safe place until the threat of a tornado has passed. Have a pre-determined place to meet after a disaster. Using text messaging instead of calling on cell phones is often more successful during times of destructive weather.
