Afternoon highs have been in the low to mid 90s since Saturday. Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s for Tuesday ahead of an approaching cold front. Humidity levels will also increase a bit ahead of the front.

This combination will result in heat indices climbing above 105 degrees for portions of the area, including metro St. Louis.

Fortunately, this will be a quick hit of dangerous heat. The cold front will move through late Tuesday with little to no rain or storms expected. Cooler, less humid air should return to the region from Wednesday through the rest of the week.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Greater St. Louis Metropolitan area.
