ST. LOUIS — It has been really nice by August standards over the last few days. With low humidity, mornings in the 50s and afternoon highs struggling to get to 80 degrees, it doesn't exactly feel like summer in the Bi-state.
A dying complex of rain has settled into the area Wednesday morning. While it has mostly fallen apart as it interacts with dry air here locally, there have been a few light showers. But overall, this has really kept us cool. It does not feel like August.
Temperatures have stayed in the 60s for the majority of Wednesday morning. For days that the average high is in the upper 80s and the average lows in the upper 60s, this is a real treat for the middle of August.
If we don't get higher than 77 degrees on Wednesday, it will be a top 5 cool day in St. Louis. Don't get used to this because things will change in a hurry this weekend.
Heading into the weekend, a strong area of high pressure will settle in. Not only will this help raise our temperatures significantly, but it will also continue to promote a dry pattern for us until the pattern changes by the end of next week.
So as we enjoy some of this cooler weather for now, temperatures will get close to 100 by the end of the weekend and into a good portion of next week. Prepare for the heat and humidity to combine to make it feel like it's well over 100 degrees.
