ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A 25-year-old man is charged with assault second-degree and property damage in St. Louis County.
Johnny Ricks is accused of stomping and punching a 15-year-old employee, Aryiah Lynch, at a McDonald's on Parker Road.
As an editorial decision, 5 On Your Side decided to only air some images of the fight due to its violent nature.
St. Louis County Police Department said Ricks was a customer, he got upset and destroyed an electronic menu board by throwing a tray at it.
That's when they said employees told him to leave and escorted him outside and that's when an argument happened.
The video shows a man, who police said is Ricks, grab an employee in a red shirt, drag her by her hair and then stomp on her head.
As she gets up, police said Ricks swung at her, hitting her in the head again.
Her stepmom Shawnunique Phillips said Aryiah has a concussion and got out of surgery on Wednesday for a broken nose.
"My 15-year-old daughter and her teenage co-workers were assaulted at their place of employment. They came into the McDonald’s and began to spit on my daughter and the young man at the cash register. The incident started in the drive-thru and escalated inside. The adults also began to destroy McDonald’s property by throwing things and damaging the self-serve screens," Phillips created a GoFundMe and said.
Phillips described her daughter as an ambitious, loving, sweet young lady who enjoys spending time with her siblings and working at McDonald’s. She said she was saving money for her upcoming birthday.
"This assault has been a life changing experience for her," she said. "In minutes, our family's life shattered when my only daughter was assaulted outside of the McDonald’s on Parker Road and 367."
The McDonald’s Owner/Operator Jimmy Williams shared this statement:
"Ensuring the safety of both our employees and customers is paramount to me as a local business owner. My team and I want to extend our sincere gratitude to the St. Louis County Police Department for their exceptional work."
Ricks is being held on a $150,000 cash only, without %10 bond. Some of the bond conditions require him to stay 500 feet away from any McDonalds and have no contact with the victim.
Ricks was in court Thursday morning for an initial appearance and will have a bond hearing review on April 25th.
