ST. LOUIS — Winter weather is working its way into the St. Louis area later this week. That likely means a change in schedule and strategy for most of us.
The threat of winter weather impacts many job titles, not the least of which are people who have a chance to double-up now, so they don’t have to be out later in the week.
Schnucks in Brentwood is busy on these days before snow and ice potentially move in, but not everybody is shopping for themselves.
Stacey Williams is an Instacart in-store shopper.
“Busy,” she said. “It builds up to it. Sunday was pretty busy. Saturday was OK, but now with the weather coming, we’re going to get busier, especially if the schools close.”
St. Louis Christmas Decor workers are racing the weather taking down holiday lights along Clayton Road in Ladue.
“Yeah, we definitely are, for sure,” said Brandan Sheehan. “I’m going to be honest with you, I don’t even like the cold but I need the money.”
“Snow Wednesday and Thursday? I know it’s supposed to be a lot, so I’m not really planning on driving,” Nikolas Horace, another St. Louis Christmas Decor employee said.
Ladue Pharmacy co-owner Rick Williams said they generally get busier in the days before weather threatens.
“I would suggest with the weather coming, people call their pharmacy and order, if they’re going to run out of medication during the storm,” said Williams. “They should be able to get them filled without any insurance issues.”
Schnarr’s Hardware manager Stephanie Bittick says they’re stocked up with winter weather gear, for now.
“I recommend not waiting until Wednesday morning,” said Bittick, “because we have a lot of ice melt now. But we’ll sell it, just like anything else.”
MoDOT officials said they will be providing an update on their storm strategy Tuesday afternoon.
