Weather Alert ends Tuesday evening, temperatures drop below freezing overnight

The snow is diminishing in intensity around St. Louis Tuesday evening.

ST. LOUIS — UPDATE: The snow is diminishing in intensity around St. Louis Tuesday evening. The winter weather advisory has been canceled as the accumulating snow is rather insignificant. We will continue to watch the elevated surfaces for a few slick spots until the roads dry.

Gusty winds will help those roads dry although, some gusts may be in the 40 to 45 m.p.h. range. Temperatures have fallen just below freezing to the west of the metro area as of 7 p.m. Overnight lows will drop into the 20s as clouds remain across much of Missouri and Illinois.

Previous Story: As the storm system moves through the region Tuesday, winds will increase through the day, with gusts above 40 mph during the afternoon and evening hours. Any rain showers will give way to snow areas into the afternoon and evening as colder air settles in.

Areas north and west of St. Louis may see an additional one to two inches of snow. However, snow totals from the metro area, south and east will be up to an inch of snow. Some roads could become slick.
