Storms sweep across St. Louis area

Most of the St. Louis metro area was under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. Monday. Rain continued into early Tuesday morning

ST. LOUIS — Did you wake up overnight to the sound of storms?

Storms swept across the St. Louis area Tuesday night. Most of the St. Louis metro area was under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. Rain continued into early Tuesday morning.

St. Louis Lambert Airport picked up over 1.5 inches of rainfall.

A person was spotted cleaning up some of the damage from the storm in south city along Cherokee Street. 

In the 4400 block of Indiana Avenue, a car was damaged by some sort of building and a tree.

One woman in Creve Coeur said around 11:30 p.m., she believes lightning hit her home’s roof. She said there was a flash outside of the house and she felt it shake. No one was hurt and she said the damage was minor.

Wednesday will be cool, cloudy and breezy with highs topping out in the 50s. There will be occasional showers around as well.

On Thursday and Friday, dry weather should return with highs Thursday in the 60s and Friday we'll likely top out in the 70s.
