ST. LOUIS — Gusty winds are bringing much colder air into Missouri and Illinois overnight into Monday.
The winds picked up behind a cold front that moved through St. Louis during the early evening Sunday. Northwest winds will frequently gust to around 30 miles per hour into the first half of Monday.
The band of light rain that developed behind the front continues to move away from the metro area. There may be a few snowflakes mixed in as it moves away overnight with little if any impact on roads.

The gusty winds are delivering the coldest air of the season so far with all areas expected to be in the mid to upper 20s by Monday morning. The cold and wind combined will make it feel like it is in the middle teens early Monday morning.
Mostly cloudy conditions are expected during the morning hours Monday with a few snow flurries possible. Even as skies clear during the afternoon, temperatures will struggle into the middle 30s.
Overnight lows Monday night into Tuesday morning will drop into the teens and lower 20s as the winds diminish somewhat. Tuesday will likely be the brightest day of the week with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Another weather system is expected to bring more clouds by later Wednesday into Friday. There will be a chance of rain or snow at times on Thursday, but daytime highs are expected to be in the 40s limiting the accumulating snow potential.
Near to a little below average temperatures are expected over the upcoming weekend.
