ST. LOUIS — Storms are marching through central Missouri Wednesday morning, producing a large amount of lightning and thunder with very heavy rainfall.
These thunderstorms are expected to move into the 5 On Your Side viewing area between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Heavy rain and frequent lightning and thunder are expected, along with the potential for strong, gusty winds.
With so much lightning and strong winds approaching the area, be prepared for a few power outages, too.
The flash flood watch continues through 1 p.m. Wednesday with upwards of 1 inch expected during the heavier downpours.
Most of the heavy rain fell Tuesday across the Illinois side of the river. On Wednesday, most of it will fall on the Missouri side.
Remember to never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
The 4th of July holiday weekend looks hot and humid with the return of lower 90s.
