ST. LOUIS — Storms moved through the St. Louis area Wednesday evening causing damage.

According to Emergency Management in St. Louis County, a Bel-Ridge detective's car was hit by a tree that fell around 4:15 p.m. The detective was out on a call for wires that were down at Ramona and Elmhurst. He was not injured, a spokesperson said.
In the 11700 block of Talbott, a St. Louis County police officer had a large tree limb fall on his car while he was out on a call for a house struck by lightning. He was not injured, a spokesperson said.
We have reports of wires and trees down all along the North and Central corridor of St. Louis County. Ameren is reporting about 21,000 households without power in St. Louis County.
Water has since receded near Lexington and Kingshighway in St. Louis where firefighters helped one car that was stuck. There were no reports of injuries.
There have been several reports of downed trees in the Metro East.
Ameren is reporting more than 20,000 power outages as of 6:15 p.m.
