ST. LOUIS — Showers and storms are trying to develop across parts of the region this afternoon.

The most likely area to see severe weather is far to the south and southeast of St. Louis. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Perry county Missouri and Perry and Jefferson counties in the 5 On Your Side viewing area until 9 p.m. tonight.
A few storms could contain hail and strong winds. In addition, there is the threat of heavy rainfall on already saturated ground. A flash flood watch is posted for areas north and east of St. Louis into tonight.
