Weather Alert: Morning severe storm threat expires for St. Louis, more storms expected Thursday evening

ST. LOUIS — The severe thunderstorm watch has expired for the 5 On Your Side viewing area. More strong storms are expected Thursday afternoon.

Severe thunderstorms downed power lines on Illinois Route 111 near Old Fidelity Road in Brighton, Illinois. Police confirmed the entire town was without power.

Multiple semitrucks were blown over along northbound Interstate 55 between Litchfield and Farmersville, according to a National Weather Service storm report.

After the main line of storms sweeps through, there will be lingering showers. A few storms will continue to move up along Interstate 44. 

Rain should clear by lunchtime, and the afternoon hours will be warm and breezy as more storms flare up. 

The storms Thursday evening could be stronger with damaging winds, hail up to 2 inches and a tornado or two.
