ST. LOUIS — After another round of moderate to heavy sleet around the metro area midday Thursday, the heavy precipitation has moved away allowing road crews to get the main roads in pretty good shape. Be mindful of slick roads for the rest of the evening.
With the warmer air wedging into the system, it really became electrified with hundreds of cloud-to-ground lightning strikes late Thursday morning into the early afternoon. Numerous viewers from Gasconade County, Missouri in Bland to Waterloo, Illinois, reported thunder and lighting with mostly heavy sleet and some reporting freezing rain. The reports kept coming in through the early afternoon including the Farmington area.
