ST. LOUIS — St. Luke's on Tuesday said CEO Christine Candio will resign effective April 1 and plans to move to the East Coast to be closer to family.
In a news release, the Chesterfield-based health system, which operates a 493-bed St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield and the 143-bed St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital, said it will begin a national search for her replacement. The Chesterfield hospital is the region's fourth-largest by revenue, according to Business Journal research.
“We are grateful for her service and leadership, and we wish her all the best in all future endeavors,” Dan Stegmann, board chair of St. Luke’s Hospital, said in a prepared statement.
Candio was hired by nonprofit St. Luke's in October 2014 and began her position in January 2015 following a six-year stint as CEO of the 318-bed Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. At the time, she also was chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
