ST. LOUIS — Another Target store is coming soon to the St. Louis area, and at 148,000 square feet, it will be the largest Target store yet in the region.
The retailer purchased a 7.5-acre site at the $211-million Market at Olive development which spans both sides of Olive Boulevard between Interstate 170 and McKnight and Woodson roads in University City, according to a news release from the team behind Market at Olive.
Target will be the second anchor store for the project, and the location will include a two-level parking structure.
The team behind the Market at Olive is made up of Bob Clark with engineering and construction firm Clayco; Larry Chapman with developer Seneca Commercial Real Estate; David Hutkin with commercial real estate agency Hutkin Properties Group, LLC; and Caroline Saunders as general counsel at Clayco.
The first phase of the development included the Costco at 8685 Olive Blvd as its first anchor store. The project also includes Chick-fil-A, First Watch, Chipotle, Panera, Raising Cane's, 7 Brew and more additional businesses are expected to be announced later in the summer, the release said.
"We look forward to soon announcing our third and final anchor as we approach the completion of this project, which is so important to University City," Clark said in a statement.
Target's newest St. Louis location opened July 21 at 900 South Grand Blvd. in Midtown near the Saint Louis University campus. The location is a smaller-format store at 72,000 square feet.
