17-year-old shot and killed at East St. Louis housing complex

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A 17-year-old male was shot to death at an East St. Louis housing complex on Friday morning.

The St. Clair County Coroner identified the victim as Christopher Emerson of East St. Louis.

The Illinois State Police (ISP) said that East St. Louis police responded to the John DeShields Homes on Macausland Avenue at about 9:20 a.m. for a shooting call and found Emerson near one of the buildings with a gunshot wound.

First responders began treating Emerson, but he died at the scene. ISP Zone 6 Investigations is assisting East St. Louis Police Department with the homicide investigation.
