ST. LOUIS — Two men are facing charges after police said they were involved in the carjacking of a mother and her three children that eventually resulted in a crash that left a third carjacking suspect dead.
Percy Robinson, 22, and Courtney Clay, 18, were each charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the Tuesday morning incident.
Police said Robinson, Clay and a third man ran up to a 2008 GMC Acadia that was carrying a woman and her three children at around 1:50 Tuesday morning. The armed men forced the woman and her children out of the car and drove off. The woman and her children were not physically hurt.
As the men were speeding away, they crashed into a tractor-trailer driving through the intersection of 7th and Barton Streets. One of the men was killed in the crash, but Robinson and Clay got out and ran off.
Both were arrested shortly after the crash.
Robinson and Clay are both being held without bond.
The man killed in the crash was identified as Christopher Gragg.
