2 in custody after carjacking near St. Mary's High School

Police responded to the 4700 block of S. Spring Street in the Dutchtown neighborhood around 11:40 p.m.

ST. LOUIS — Two people are in custody after a carjacking near St. Mary’s High School Monday night.

Police responded to the 4700 block of S. Spring Street in the Dutchtown neighborhood around 11:40 p.m. where a 25-year-old man said he just parked his Ford Edge when two unknown men approached him with guns.

The victim complied and the men left the scene in his car.

Less than two hours later, police spotted the car in the 5200 block of Natural Bridge and tried to stop it. The driver fled at a high rate of speed and was involved in an accident near I-70 and W. Florissant. A 28-year-old man and 23-year-old man tried to get away from the scene, but were taken into custody.

Police said multiple suspected narcotics and two guns were recovered.
