The father who was recently charged in the death of his 9-year-old son is facing new charges.
Earlier this month, Dawan Ferguson was charged in his son’s death 16 years after he disappeared.
He was charged with one count of first-degree murder and was arrested on Oct. 3. According to the probable cause statement, Dawan failed to provide Christian with the proper nutrition and medication from January 2001 through June 2003. Detectives said they were informed Christian would likely have died within 48 to 72 hours without proper medication.
On Wednesday, new allegations were revealed in a hearing where Dawan asked for a reduction of bail.
The charges were released on Thursday. Dawan is facing two counts of rape, two counts of statutory sodomy and second-degree child molestation.
According to court documents, between May 2008 and 2010, he knowingly had sexual intercourse with a child less than 14 years old and as a result, that victim became pregnant and had a child. Between May 2010 and 2013, the victim was under 17 years old and continued to have sexual intercourse with her.
Prosecutors said, between September 2000 and 2003, he had sexual contact with another child who was under the age of 17.
Bond is set on these additional charges at $500,000.00.
“We are saddened by these additional charges on Mr. Ferguson. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families and we will continue to aggressively seek justice for them. Our attorneys and investigators, along with the St. Louis County Police Department, will remain diligent in their investigation of these vile offenses and will proceed wherever additional findings take them,” St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell said.
