Man shot, killed Wednesday night in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A man was shot and killed Wednesday night in north St. Louis.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers found a 53-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest at about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 3200 block of North Taylor Avenue, located in the city's Greater Ville neighborhood.

Police said the man, 54-year-old Dan Pruitt of Florissant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

As of Thursday morning, police had not shared what led up to the shooting or whether they had any suspects.

Just days before, a 21-year-old man died after being shot multiple times on the same block.
