Federal inmates back in custody after escaping Lincoln County jail, carjacking senior, crashing car, police say

Police said two federal inmates are back in custody after escaping and carjacking an elderly person in Troy, Missouri.

St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez said the inmates managed to escape from a Lincoln County jail. While on the loose, Jimenez said they carjacked an elderly person in Troy, Missouri, and sped away.

Jimenez said his officers joined St. Charles County police in the chase when it entered their jurisdiction.

The chase ended with a crash near the intersection of Interstates 170 and 70 at around 9:30. Police said one of the men ran off, but police were able to catch him. The other man was able to crawl away from the car, but he was also arrested.

The U.S. Marshals will interview the men then return them to the Lincoln County jail.
