FLORISSANT, Mo. — Florissant police are looking for a masked man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in her apartment Tuesday evening.
According to a press release, the department received a report of a sexual assault at an apartment on the 700 block of Mendocina Court at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim told officers she was returning home when the masked man forced her into her apartment. Once inside, she said the man sexually assaulted her.
She told police the masked man appeared to be in his mid to late teens.
“People don’t deserve this," said neighbor Terrelle Marion. "Women deserve to be treated with respect. This shouldn’t be happening.”
Florissant police said anyone with information is asked to call the department at 314-831-7000.
The department also asked residents to report suspicious activity to police and take precautions to stay safe. They advised residents to lock doors and windows and stay aware of their surroundings.
The department said it increased patrols in the area after the incident.
Marion says he and a number of other community members are also working together to keep their community safe.
“We’re making sure that we keep in contact," said Marion. "We really want to start a neighborhood watch program because we want to keep each other safe.”
