ST. LOUIS — An investigation is underway after a man was carjacked in St. Louis’ Tower Grove East neighborhood Tuesday evening.
Police responded to Arkansas Avenue and Humphrey Street around 7 p.m. where a 60-year-old man said he had just parked when he was approached by one of the carjackers.
The man said the carjacker demanded his keys while he had his hand in his pocket and indicated he had a gun. Two other men approached the victim and then they got into his car and left the scene.
Police said the carjackers were wearing surgical masks.
The victim was not injured.
Compared to 2018, carjackings are significantly down in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. According to crime statistics from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, there were 12 carjackings in 2018. From January to October of this year, there have been two carjackings.
