Man shot early Monday morning in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS — A man was shot early Monday morning in north St. Louis.

Police first reported the victim died from his injuries, which 5 On Your Side reported in this story. However, police later corrected their information to indicate the man is still alive, but is in critical condition and his vitals are unstable.

Police received a call for a shooting shortly after 6 a.m. in the 1900 block of N. 14th Street, which is at the Murphy Blair Apartments in the Old North St. Louis neighborhood.

Officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A 5 On Your Side photojournalist saw officers at the scene focusing on an area in the parking lot of the apartment complex. There were two evidence markers on the ground.

Police have not released any further details, but they expect to release more information Monday afternoon.
