ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A car was stolen while it was warming up in front of a house in north St. Louis County Tuesday morning, according to police. The call originally came in indicating a child was in the vehicle at the time, but police have confirmed the baby was not inside the vehicle at the time and is safe.
The call came in at 8:50 a.m. for the report of an abduction and stolen vehicle in the 10100 block of Duke Drive. That’s in the Castle Point neighborhood of north St. Louis County.
The caller said a baby was inside their car while it was warming up.
St. Louis County police quickly found the vehicle and chased the driver to the 1400 block of Trampe Avenue, where the suspect drove the car into a house, police said.
It was later discovered the baby was not inside the vehicle at the time the car was stolen, police said.
Two people were taken into custody after trying to get away from the car on Trampe, police confirmed.
